Chautauqua Leadership Network Inducts New Class
STOCKTON – The 21st Chautauqua Leadership Network class graduated and was inducted into active membership on Nov. 21 at the Stockton Grill in Stockton, joining almost 500 like-minded, community-focused leaders who have completed the nine-month training with the organization.
“We’re so fortunate to have such a well-developed program available in Chautauqua County,” said Bill Evans, attorney with Phillips Lytle and member of CLN’s Class of 2013. “It’s truly world-class.”
Fellow graduate Leanna Luka-Conley, The Resource Center, said, “This experience has helped me grow professionally by giving me insight into my own leadership style and how to effectively work with other leadership styles.
“The group of leaders or now friends that I attended this with were amazing and our community is fortunate to have their support.”
Twenty-four individuals from all over Chautauqua County participated in last year’s program, which began with a two-and-a-half-day retreat in late February. The retreat, designed to allow the class members to learn about their own leadership styles and the styles of each other, set the framework for the program. Monthly educational sessions during the year covered a variety of topics, including personal leadership assessments, ethics, boardsmanship, business and economic development and how to lead appreciatively. Each session was held in a different location providing additional opportunities to discover the many assets of Chautauqua County.
Members of the Class of 2013 also attended two lectures sponsored by Chautauqua Institution, after which they engaged in discussion sharing their thoughts about the lectures over lunch.
Chautauqua Leadership Network was founded in 1993 by a group of local leaders who saw the need to replenish a waning community leadership. Its vision is to create a community in active control of its destiny. The mission is to identify and nurture regional leaders and to provide a framework for establishing a network of civic trustees who will help our community meet the challenges of today and prepare for the opportunities of tomorrow.
