Lady Panthers Subdue Sherman, 39-32

ERIE, Pa. – Brittany Lenart and Emilee Sperry led a second-half comeback for Panama in a Division 2 West girls basketball game played at the Erie Insurance Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Lenart scored 14 points and Sperry added 12 after intermission as Panama (5-2, 9-2) trimmed Sherman (4-3, 8-5), 39-32.

Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the first half and Sherman went out to a 16-8 lead as Panama shot just 2-of-28 from the field.

But things changed in the second half as Panama went on a 31-16 run to nail down its sixth straight victory. Lenart wound up with 19 points and Sperry had all 12 of her points after intermission.

”We started driving toward the basket in the second half instead of settling for jumpers like we did in the first half ,” said Panama coach Rob Collver, who was playing without point guard Taylor Bowen sidelined by sickness. ”We missed Taylor, but Lenart and Sperry got the job done.”

Brianna Marsh had eight rebounds and Sperry seven for the Lady Panthers. Lenart and Sperry delivered three steals each.

Roxanne Toy and Talia Coccarelli grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Sherman. Katrina Christmas and Shenley Luden both had six points.
