Margaret S. Anderson

Margaret S. Anderson, 86, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., passed away after a short illness on Jan. 21, 2014, at her home with her husband and her daughter at her side.

Margaret “Peggy” was born May 3, 1927, in West Palm Beach, Fla., the only daughter of Carl and Mary Martin Solberg.

Peggy graduated from Youngsville High School in Pennsylvania in 1945.

After marrying her husband, Carl Anderson, she resided in Jamestown, N.Y., to raise her family and pursue her career as a teachers’ assistant at Celoron Elementary School in the Southwestern District, retiring in 1989, after 23 years.

Born of Swedish descent, Peggy was a longtime member of IOV Viking Ingjald Lodge 65. She was also a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. During her lifetime, Peggy enjoyed homemaking and entertaining, golfing, bowling, dancing, gardening, traveling and camping. She was a loving, protective, and caring wife and mother, and she will be remembered for her forthright and pragmatic personality.

She and her husband have lived in the Savannah Club Community for the past 20 years, where she has been an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jensen Beach, Fla.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl A. Anderson; her daughter, Karla Anderson Swanson, and her son-in-law, Carl R. Black. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Kathleen Anderson Black.

Memorial service will be for immediate family per her wishes. Memorial donations can be made to the Kathleen Black Scholarship Fund administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, NY 14701 or Trinity United Methodist Church, Jensen Beach, Fla. or the Humane Society of Port St. Lucie, Fla.
