Joyce Mae Anderson

Joyce Mae Anderson, 81, of 94 Eagle St., Jamestown, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Robert and Helga Klang Anderson.

Before her retirement she was employed by the Jamestown Board of Education, working in the cafeteria of Jamestown High School for more than 33 years. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and traveling when opportunities were available.

She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings, the Thule Lodge 127 VASA Order of America and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.

Surviving are her husband, Bryant G. “Buster” Anderson, whom she married Dec. 16, 1950; two daughters: Paula (John) Giambelluca of Greenhurst, N.Y. and Karen (Christopher) Creighton of Bemus Point; five grandchildren: Bryant J. Gauggel of Jamestown, Hilleri S. Shaw of Depew, N.Y., Elizabeth A. Gauggel of Foxboro, Mass., Brooke C. (Mikael) Lindsley of Annapolis, Md. and Andrew R. Creighton of Lakewood, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Bryant J. Gauggel II; her brother, Clayton (Winnie) Anderson of Bemus Point; and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Teresa Anderson, and her brother, Carl Anderson.

A private graveside service will be held in the Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
