Jamestown Mother, Child ‘Shaken Up’ Following Head-On Collision

No injuries were sustained after a Jamestown woman and her 15-month-old child were involved in a head-on collision Friday at the intersection of Forest and Newland avenues.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, Raechel Connell, 22, was traveling southbound on Forest Avenue at approximately 2:10 p.m., when she reportedly crossed over to the other side of the road and crashed head-on into a delivery truck, parked beside Fresh Cut Meats & More.

Though Connell’s 2010 Chevy HHR sustained significant damage, both she and her 15-month-old child were uninjured.

“They’re shaken up, but they’re okay,” said Thomas Shea, senior accident investigator for the Jamestown Police Department.

Connell’s mother reportedly took both to WCA Hospital for precautionary measures, police said.

The driver of the delivery truck – Thryon Naylon, 26, of Erie – was reportedly inside the vehicle during the collision.

He also sustained no injuries. The truck – a 2003 Ford with refrigerated storage space – sustained minor damages.

Connell will be charged for failing to keep right, police said.
