Cheryl R. “Mema” Dean

Cheryl R. “Mema” Dean, 60, of the 110 W. Third St. Jamestown, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in WCA Hospital.

She was born March 1, 1953. in Erie, Pa., the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Ellen L. Woodcock Phillips.

In earlier years, she worked as a bus monitor in the Jamestown Public School System. Mema enjoyed playing Bingo, was a huge fan of NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her favorite times were those spent with her family.

Surviving are two daughters: Holly Sechriest (John Kearns) and Heather Dean; a son, Gary S. Dean Jr., all of Jamestown; 10 grandchildren: Austin Mancuso, Alissa Sechriest, Sapphire Dean, Sierra Dean, Trent Dean, Brooklyn Walrod, Emma Walrod and Fallon Dean, all of Jamestown; Brooke (Al) Ray of Alabama, and Jessica Kearns Reed of Benbrook, Texas; six greatgrandchildren; and six brothers and sisters: Kathy Barron, Linda Schwankee, Louann Phillips, Donald Phillips, Randy Phillips and Dennis Phillips.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary S. Dean Sr., whom she married Nov. 26, 1975, and who died Dec. 23, 2005.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Thursday (two hours prior to the service) in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
