Michael “Noodles” “Beav” Newark, 57, of Salamanca, died early Saturday morning (Jan. 11, 2014) shortly after being admitted to the Olean General Hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1956, in Salamanca, N.Y., he was the son of the late Hubert and Barbara Ambuske Newark.
Mr. Newark was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. serving from 1976-1980.
He was employed at Salamanca Lumber as a wood grader.
Mr. Newark was an avid Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan and was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. His sense of humor will be missed.
He is survived by five sisters: Julie (Earl) Lafferty, Salamanca, N.Y., Noreen (Emmit) Huffman, Wiersdale, Fla., Christine (William) Jacoby, Great Valley, N.Y., Tami (Randy) Roberts, Lockport, N.Y., and Toni Newark, Salamanca, N.Y.; one brother, C. John (Marjory) Newark, Salamanca, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Pete Newark; a sister, Debra McClure; and a niece, Jennifer Manning.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke and O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace, officiating.
Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, N.Y.
Full Military Honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John Ahrens Post #5296.
