Neva B. Fisher
Neva B. Fisher of Ripley, N.Y., died at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., on Jan. 10, 2014, the same day as her sister, Doris A. Dubert.
Neva was born on Sept. 2, 1925, in Dunkirk, N.Y. to the late Jackson and Grace Blodgett.
She received her education through the Ripley school system. On June 4, 1948, Neva married George Fisher, who died on March 14, 2006. She was very involved in her children’s activities, including Cub Scouts, 4-H and Sunday school.
Neva was an active member of the Ripley Senior Citizens, the Grange and the statewide cooperative extension.
She enjoyed baking, word puzzles, reading and sewing. For 60 years, she and her husband raised grapes and produce, and owned and operated Fisher’s Fruit Farm for 25 years.
Neva is survived by five children: Wayne (Jeannie) Fisher of Allen, Texas, Audrey (Ronald) Britz and Roy (Melissa) Fisher of Ripley, N.Y., Neil (Kimberly) Fisher of Cambridge, N.Y. and Eric (Julie) Fisher of Westfield.
She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and her brother, Paul (Patricia) of Huron, Ohio.
Besides her parents and husband, George, Neva was predeceased by her sisters, Doris Dubert of Brocton, N.Y. and Alice Muncey; and her brother, Glenn Blodgett.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Neva’s memory may be made to the Ripley United Methodist Church and/or the Ripley Ambulance Fund.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Neva’s funeral services on Jan. 14, 2014, at the Ripley Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Calling hours are on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Ripley, N.Y.
