Jacqueline ‘‘Jacki’’ G. Lanphere

Jacqueline ”Jacki” G. Lanphere, 77, of Madison, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.

She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of E. Leonard and Helen S. Gustafson.

She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1954 and then attended The Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, Mass., where she graduated from the secretarial course.

In September 1977, she married Lloyd C. Lanphere in her family church, Immanuel Lutheran, Jamestown, N.Y. They lived in Arlington, Texas, moving to Huntsville in 1980 then to Madison in 1984. After Lloyd’s retirement in 1993 they decided to “try something different,” so they moved to McCormick, S.C., only to move back to Madison in the fall of 1997.

Jacqueline was very active with several organizations in the community.

She was founding member of the Huntsville Newcomers Club in September 1980. She was also a member of the Madison Women’s Club, the Republican Women of Madison and the Fenton History Center, Jamestown, N.Y.

Along with her husband, she served actively on the Citizens for Madison Against Annexation committee in 1986.

She is survived by her nephew, Army Command Sergeant Major Daniel L. Gustafson (Amy); and her great-niece and great-nephew, Paige and Ryan Gustafson.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at Madison Chapel Funeral Home, followed by a grave-side service at 12:30 p.m. in the Madison Memory Gardens.

Memorial may be made to the Lloyd N. Lanphere Scholarship Fund at Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. or The Wounded Warrior Project or a favorite charity of your choice.
