Lake Effect Snow Watch Issued For Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow watch beginning at 11 a.m. Monday and lasting through 6 a.m. Wednesday for Chautauqua County to go along with a wind chill advisory from 6 p.m. this evening until Saturday morning at 5 a.m. and a lake effect snow watch from 11 a.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Wednesday for Cattaraugus County.

More than 6 inches of snow could potentially fall in the most persistent lake snow bands beginning Monday morning. Snow-covered roads will make travel difficult.

A lake effect snow watch means that significant weather is possible in localized areas.

With winds from the southwest between 15 to 25 mph tonight, Cattaraugus County has been placed under a wind chill advisory meaning values could be as low as 15 below zero. Bitterly cold wind chills pose a risk for frost bite and hypothermia for anyone outside for even short periods of time.
