Geraldine Johnston, 96, passed away Dec. 23, 2013, at the Corry Manor Nursing Home in Corry, Pa.
Born July 17, 1917, in Bear Lake, Pa., to Enoch and Elloine Cornish, Geraldine (Gerry) lived most of her life in the Panama area.
Her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Johnston, preceded her in death. They were married Feb. 11, 1946, in Florida. Her parents Enoch and Elloine Cornish Sr.; three brothers: Daniel, Alfonso and Enoch Cornish; three sisters: Susan Webster, Lora (Schenck) Eschenbach and Dorema Zerbe; and several nieces and nephews, also preceded her in death.
Numerous nieces and nephews, greatnieces and nephews, and greatgreat nieces and nephews survive her.
Geraldine graduated from the Pennsylvania State University. She worked for several years for the Cornell Cooperative Extension and was a 4H adviser. Geraldine was a longtime member of the Bear Lake United Methodist Church, where she served in several capacities.
She was active in many community activities. In later years, Geraldine and Robert enjoyed wintering in Florida, visiting family and friends and excursions with the Panama Senior Citizens.
Per Robert’s request, a memorial service for both Geraldine and Robert will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
