Southwestern-Maple Grove Earns Split

WEST?SENECA-Southwestern/Maple Grove Hockey (7-4-1) picked up one win and one loss in the Cheektowaga Invitational Christmas Tournament on Monday night.

In the opening game, the team bested Saint Joseph’s A, the No. 2 ranked large school in Western New York, in a rousing 3-2 overtime finish.

The first goal of the night came from Brandon Decker assisted by Curtis Carlson and Tommy Gerace. Nate Stephens was able to tie the game at two with :53 seconds remaining in regulation on assists from Andy Farnham and Gerace.

The game-winner was notched by Farnham with 2:30 remaining in extra time with Gerace adding his third assist.

Ryan Pascarella recorded the win in net for SW/MG.

In their second matchup the team fell 0-2 to South Park/Riverside in a Niagara Frontier Club Hockey League meeting. Ben Richard was in net for the loss.
