Craig “Rick” Himes

Craig Rick Himes, 52, of Gerry passed away Saturday (Dec. 21, 2013) in his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

A lifelong area resident, he was born July 10, 1961, in Warren, Pa., the son of Clyde A. Himes Sr. and Mary Uhrin Himes.

Rick was a 1980 graduate of Falconer High School and was employed by Crawford Furniture and later of Cole Craft Furniture.

He was a member of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department, Falconer Rod & Gun Club, and SSAFE Rod & Gun. In earlier years Rick had raced as Stateline Speedway. He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and fishing, dirt track racing, snowmobiling, four wheeling and the outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Himes, whom he married April 8, 1988, in Falconer; four children: Craig N. Himes (Elisa Franklin) of Youngsville, Pa., Christopher A. (Angi) Himes of Jamestown, Shawn Michael Himes (Heather) of Gerry and Rachel M. Himes at home; a granddaughter Charlotte Himes; his mother Mary Himes of Kennedy; three brothers: Clyde A. “Butch” (Charlotte) Himes, Frederick (Rita) Himes all of Florida, John (Amy) Himes of Kennedy, Mama Hoch and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde A. Himes Sr., and a brother, Timothy D. Himes, and sister-in-law Patricia Himes.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Monday con-ducted by the Rev. Walter Venman of Clarks Corners Community Church.
