Davidson’s Honors Employees

LAKEWOOD – Davidson’s Family Restaurant owners honored their longtime employees earlier this month at their employee christmas party.

“We have a lot of respect for our employees,” said Leslie Genarareo, a third-generation owner.

On Dec. 8, Davidson’s honored and gave thanks to the employees who work within at the restaurant, and make it successful. Out of those 50 employees, 10 of them have worked at Davidson’s for five years, 12 of them for 15 years and seven have lent their talents for 30 years.

Davidson’s Family Restaurant was founded in 1950 by Bob and Margrete Davidson.

“They were looking for something to do after my grandpa got out of the war (World War II),” Genarareo said. She said her grandparents always looked to work for themselves.

“They ran this restaurant for 10 years without making a profit,” Genarareo said. “They just worked in the building, lived in the building for many years. They just loved doing it.”

She said it wasn’t just about money to them; that there was a bigger picture.

Davidson’s will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

“Holidays should be spent with family,” Genarareo said. “Every major holiday we are closed. My grandparents believed if they didn’t want to work, their staff shouldn’t have to work.”

Davidson’s can be found at 398 E. Fairmount Ave. in Lakewood. They are open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday’s from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
