JPS Superintendent Tim Mains Discusses Common Core
To better educate the public on the Common Core Learning Standards and the various components of New York state’s education reform, Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent Tim Mains recently gave a presentation sponsored by the Southwestern Region PTA. Mains compared the main components of the new education reform to a construction site because, as he said, “We are rebuilding our educational system from the ground up.”
“Despite this substantial reform effort,” Mains said, “our main goal is still for students to graduate prepared for life.”
The intent of the Common Core is to ensure that students are ready for both college – if they choose to go – and career.”
