Creche?Spreads Holiday Cheer
During this Christmas Season the Creche organization will help more help 60 area children from local school districts and their families through an outreach of their Community Service Holiday Project.
The children were selected by local school guidance counselors and nurses.
Nearly 30 Creche members and their daughters braved an early winter snow storm on one of the busiest shopping days of the year to shop and wrap the gifts chosen for each child.
Co-chairs Karen Coccaigna and Sue Schifano express many thanks to the Old Navy store at the Chautauqua Mall for a 40 percent discount on the clothing purchases and for the assistance of their staff who assisted shoppers for five hours.
Two other co-chairs of the project, Sharon Lisciandro and Julie Mula, also express thanks to K-Mart for the donation of warm hats, mittens and scarves for the children and to Dr. Andrew Kohl, DDS, who donated toothbrushes and toothpaste for each child.
Creche shoppers also donated a personal gift for each child before delivering the gifts.
In addition to clothing items, there were also gift bags for the families containing toys or books, personal hygiene items, and a Wal-Mart gift certificate for groceries.
Each family also received an encouraging Christmas letter from Creche.
The Creche is a local 113-year-old, nonprofit women’s organization comprised of approximately 100 caring volunteers whose mission has always been to help less fortunate children and their families in Chautauqua County.
