Guardians Encourage 23-Month-Old To Smoke Pot

MAYVILLE-Three people were charged Friday after allegedly encouraging a 23-month-old boy to smoke marijuana from a lit bowl.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the boy’s parents-Jessica Kelsey, 17, and George Kelsey, 18-along with Jessica Kelsey’s father-Donald Baker, 54-allegedly committed the act on Dec. 5 inside their Mayville residence.

A joint investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office and the Chautauqua County Child Protection Department led to all three individuals being charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

They are currently in Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 property.

The boy, along with another sibling, is in the care of child protective services.

An investigation for more evidence is still ongoing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
