CVCS Mat Team Wins Two Matches

SINCLAIRVILLE – Cassadaga Valley moved to 2-0 for the season, but it was anything but easy as the Cougars edged Portville, 37-36, using tie-breaking criteria in a Division 2 boys wrestling dual meet on Thursday.

Each team had four pins and a pair of forfeits to tie the match, 36-36, but Cassadaga Valley won the tie-breaker by having the higher number of first-match points scored.

Jaroslav Hudecek (152), Nick Peterson (182), Eben Torres (195) and Brandon Wise (220) posted pins for the Cougars while Ryan Thierman (126), Robert Wheeler (145), Jaycee Freeborn (160) and James Monahan (170) had pins for the Panthers.

Eighth-grader Daniel Torres (126) and exchange-student Jaroslav Hudecek (152) both earned their first varsity wins for the Cougars while Zach Mower (160), Nick Peterson (170) and Tyson Gugino (285) record pins.

Preston Rhodes (145) scored a pin victory for the Bears.
