Cutting More Than Hair

Scissors, combs and blow dryers are typical items found inside a barbershop – on Thursday, Jamestown Police found a little more.

Cocaine, money and metal knuckles were just some of the items recovered during two drug busts in Jamestown.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., the Jamestown Police Department, the New York State Police and CNET executed two search warrants at two separate locations: Gerald’s Barber Shop located at 941 E. Second St. and a residence located at 313 S. Main St.

Inside the barbershop, investigators found Gerald Slaughter, 42, of Jamestown along with a quantity of crack cocaine, cash and two weapons – metal knuckles and a billy club, both of which are illegal to possess in New York state.

Investigators found a large quantity of cocaine in the residence on South Main Street where Slaughter lives.

Slaughter was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held at Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

Anyone who has information on the illegal sales and possession of narcotics in the Jamestown area can call the department’s anonymous tip line at 483-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
