Driver Falls Asleep, Causes Two-Car Collision
ELLERY-A driver involved in a two-car collision Thursday morning allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Zachery Arnold, 18, of Bemus Point, was traveling westbound on Bayview Road at approximately 7:19 a.m., when he fell asleep, veered off the right lane and struck another vehicle driven by Todd Diate, 23, of Stockton.
Diate sustained head and shoulder injuries and was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital. Arnold sustained an upper-leg fracture and was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital, before being transported to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
Arnold was issued a traffic ticket for failure to keep right and will appear in Ellery Court at a later date.
