Erie 2 BOCES Announces School Of Practical Nursing Grads
ANGOLA – Recently, 23 students graduated from the Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES School of Practical Nursing at the Gerry Rodeo Hall in Gerry. For 12 months, the students were trained for careers as licensed practical nurses at the Jamestown Memorial Healthcare Center in Jamestown, as well as various hospitals, physicians’ offices, clinics, long-term care facilities and other medical centers.
This student body was also very active throughout the year engaged in charity work including hosting a blood drive with the Community Blood Bank, and collecting canned goods that were donated to a local food pantry. The most notable contribution made by this class was their effort to start a scholarship fund in memory of fellow classmate, Marianne Carpenter, who passed away this past May. Through their efforts, the class collected more than $600 for the Marianne Carpenter Scholarship for LPN students attending the Jamestown site.
The School of Practical Nursing is part of the E2CCB Adult & Community Education Division, which oversees a variety of educational programs for students outside the elementary and secondary level. In addition to the Jamestown site, E2CCB LPN programs are offered at the Cassadaga Job Corps site in Cassadaga, the Hoag Educational Center site in Angola and the New Hope site in Buffalo.
Upon completion of the 12-month program, students are prepared and eligible to take the New York State LPN licensing exam and are ready to work in any health care setting.
Graduates included: Melissa Barry, Dillon Bucklin, Teresa Carlson, Marianne Carpenter (posthumously), Kelli Conklin, Mandie Engel, Christina Guimond, Sarah Haines, Cassandra Howard, Amanda Ilacqua, Kristin James, Crystal LaRoy, Teri Lyon, Sharon McChesney, Eileen McGrath, Courtney McMahon, Jacob Milliman, Tricia Near, Louise Neckers, Katie Parker, Kelli Ramsey, Matthew Robinson, Ryan Sanders and Nicole Hess.
