Thank You District 18 Supporters
To The Reader’s Forum:
I would like to thank all the people that supported me in my election campaign for Legislative District 18. I enjoyed talking to friends and meeting new people while going from door-to-door campaigning. The good conversation about our county government will be a lasting memory. This was a very eye-opening experience for me. I didn’t realize the time and effort that goes into running for office and rightfully so. I feel public office is a service to our society and participants should be picked carefully. The people elected should not be looking for personal gain or compensation for the work they do but consider it a public service to the districts they represent. I try to convey this idea to my students at Chautauqua Lake Central School whenever possible. I would hope as parents you do too. After my experience, I would encourage anyone with an interest in running for office to do so. We need varied ideas and solutions to problems.
It is important for me to let everyone know that I had nothing to do with the situation Fred Croscut put in the newspaper on Election Day. Fred approached me about this a day or two before the article came out in the paper and said he was going to The Post-Journal with the story. That is all I knew and know about this story.
Lastly, I would like you to know that I have always loved the small towns and rural areas of Chautauqua County. I enjoy the land and the small town atmosphere that we are so lucky to experience daily. That is why I have never vacationed much in my life. Everything I cherish and enjoy most is right here in Chautauqua County. In the future, I will look for other ways to support our local communities. I want our small towns and schools to survive and flourish for future generations to enjoy.
