Benjamin “Ben” Arthur Stocum

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. – Benjamin “Ben” Arthur Stocum, 81, of North Augusta, beloved husband of Mary Fidelia Carr, entered into rest suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011.

Born in Westfield, Pa., he was a son of the late Benjamin Eugene and Ethel Ida Jane Wade Stocum. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Ben was a “jack of all trades,” having done various jobs throughout his life. He was an area resident off and on since 1964 and became a permanent resident in 1987.

In addition to his wife and parents, family members include sons: Tom Stocum (Sandy), North Augusta, S.C., and the late Ron Stocum (Kathy), Elberton, Ga.; daughters: Donna Barthold, Columbus, Ind., and Sandee McNally (Tim), Loveland, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Francis Marie McCadden Stocum.

Ben wanted to donate his body to science but due to a medical condition, this was not possible. Ben’s remains were cremated.
