Jayhawks Drop Second Straight

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second straight game, the Jamestown Community College women’s basketball team had a poor first half and lost, 81-71, to Mott CC at the Columbus State Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Mott led, 45-32, at halftime en route to an 81-71 NJCAA Division II victory.

On Friday, JCC trailed Edison Tech of Ohio, 49-30, at halftime and eventually lost, 84-62. The Lady Jayhawks are now 5-2.

In the first half, Mott shot 15-of-31 for 48 percent while the Jayhawks made only 9-of-34 for 27 percent. JCC, which committed 26 turnovers, picked it up after intermission (16-of-34 for 47 percent), but the deficit was too great.

Elle Reed led the Jayhawks with 19 points, Akiah Luceus added 14 and Shawana Miller chipped in with 10.

Rahman was high for the winners with 18 points followed by Jones with 14, and Marks and Hobbs with13 each.
