Charlotte A. Winslow
Charlotte A. Winslow, 79, formerly of Falconer, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 12, 2013) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 22, 1934, in East Randolph, the daughter of the late Stanley F. and Doris Stillson Waite.
Charlotte attended the Rochester School for The Deaf, and as a child remembers Helen Keller’s visit to the school and walking with her hand in hand. She was a 1954 graduate of Randolph High School and Jamestown Business College. In earlier years, she was employed by Randolph Bank and prior to retirement in 1978 was employed by Marine Midland Bank.
Charlotte was a member of the Falconer United Methodist Church and the church’s Faith Circle Group. She was also a member of the Christian League for The Handicapped, Vision Impairment People and supported the Mission of Mercy and Quilting for World Relief.
Charlotte enjoyed listening to the escapades of “Dennis The Menace” and will be remembered for her strong Christian faith and her love for her family and friends.
Surviving are two nieces: Kathryn (Paul) Willis of Kennedy, and Annette (Donovin) Fothergill of San Antonio, Texas; two nephews: Timothy Waite of San Antonio, Texas, and Steven (Marcy) Waite of Union Gap, Wash.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Winslow, whom she married Nov. 12, 1965, in East Randolph, and who died Dec. 9, 1989; a brother, Fenton Waite; a nephew, Brian Waite; a grandnephew, Brian Willis; and her guide dog, Waylon.
Charlotte has donated her eyes for rare eye disease research.
A memorial service for Charlotte will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 23, 2013), in the Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Home, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown, NY. The Rev. Daniel Rumfelt, the Rev. Chad Sayers and the Rev. Timothy Phelps will officiate. Inurnment will be in East Randolph Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
