Golden Agers Knit For Children
More than 225 items, including mittens, scarves, hats and slippers were knitted by 19 of the Golden Agers members recently. The four veteran knitters are Margery Nordstrand, Dee Johnson, Marilyn Delahoy and Dorothy Nelson. Nearly half of the items were made by 15 members who recently learned to make knitted hats and scarves by using knitting looms. They include Betsy Johnson, Connie Whitman, Janet Anderson, Gail Keller, Kathy Stuart, Richard Anderson, Janice Anderson, Cecile Wilson, Charlotte Johnson, Betty Willis, Claudia Shaw, Elba Lawson, Ramona Gustafson, Pennie Harvey and Marilyn Scarpino.
All of the knitted items will be distributed to the Jamestown elementary schools, Southwestern Elementary School, Sinclairville Elementary School, Lakewood American Legion and the Retires Senior Volunteer Program to be given to children as needed during the winter months.
