John L. Burch

RANDOLPH – John L. Burch, 64, of Route 241, Randolph, passed away at 2 a.m. Sunday, (Nov. 3, 2013) at home with his family and friends by his side, while under the care of Hospice.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Aug. 5, 1949, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Herbert Glenn and Bernice Marie Burns Burch.

He attended Falconer Central School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., where he served from January 1968 to April 1972.

John retired in 2007 from Rand Machine in Jamestown, where he was a machine operator. He had also worked previously for the former Jamestown Sterling Corporation.

He was a social member of the Coldspring Fire Department, a former member of the Randolph Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6533 and the Randolph Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 2273.

John loved dirt-track racing, playing darts, watching football and NASCAR, and most of all spending time with his family and dear friends.

He is survived by his wife, Diana L. Buck Burch; two sons: Shawn (Dawn) Burch of Steamburg and Casey (Melissa) Burch of Busti; a daughter, Kelly Burch of East Randolph; two stepdaughters: Michelle (Terry) Garvin of Jamestown and Tina (Josh) Hammond of Randolph; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Glenn (Marge) Burch of Jamestown; and three sisters: Darlene (Larry) Kline of Forestville, Brenda (Wayne) Chapman of Kennedy and Sue (Jeff) Tompsett of Falconer, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert and Bernice Burns Burch.

Visitation will not be observed. John’s request was that people tell him their feelings while he was still alive, therefore a living tribute to John was already held in October at the Coldspring Fire Hall.
