Weekly Rankings Released

SYRACUSE – Maple Grove remains the second-ranked girls team in the latest New York State Sportswriters Association Class D cross country poll, behind Tully of Section 3.

Other ranked girls teams are Silver Creek at No. 8 and Sherman at No. 9 in Class D while Gowanda is 18th and Fredonia 19th in Class C.

Among boys cross country teams, Southwestern is fourth in Class C and Sherman 17th in Class D.

Randolph remains atop the Class D football poll, sporting an 8-0 record and an 18-game winning streak, while the Cardinals’ boys soccer team is 14th in Class C.

Other area football teams in the rankings are Maple Grove-Chautauqua Lake (7-1) fourth, and Frewsburg (5-3), Cattaraugus-Little Valley (7-1) and Sherman (5-3) honorable mention in Class D; Jamestown (8-0), sixth in Class AA; and Fredonia (8-0) ninth in Class C.
