Wilfong Takes Stance On County Home Sale
Chautauqua County legislative candidate Dave Wilfong stated that, if elected, he would be voting to sell the Chautauqua County Home. Wilfong is the Republican and Conservative candidate for the District 11 legislative seat of the County Legislature. District 11 is located in the city of Jamestown.
“During the course of my campaign, I have talked to many Jamestown residents and the vast majority of those I have spoken to have told me that they would like to see the county home privatized,” Wilfong said. “I have taken the time to investigate this matter and have reviewed the income statements of the home over the past several months. After a careful review, I was able to determine that the home is presently losing well over $9,000 a month while being operated by the county. What was even more surprising to me was that, during my review, I discovered that not one person in Jamestown is presently a resident of the home. In my opinion, Chautauqua County can no longer afford to run a facility that continues to operate in the red and which continues to be a drain on the taxpayers of this county. If elected, I will vote to sell the facility.”
