Rotary Youth Exchange Program Meeting Set For Tuesday

The Jamestown Noon Rotary Club invites local students between 15 and 18 years old, and their parents, to an informational meeting about the Rotary Youth Exchange Program hosted by the Jamestown Noon Rotary Club. The session is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Robert H. Jackson Center.

The meeting is free of charge and will provide students with information about experiencing a year abroad as a Rotary Exchange student in Europe, Asia or Latin America. The Jamestown Noon Rotary Club has operated this program for more than 30 years and offers the opportunity for students to be placed with one or more local host families during the exchange year.

Last year, more than 30 young people participated in exchanges in Rotary District 7090 which includes Rotary Clubs located in Western New York state to southern Ontario. The year of study is educational, both culturally and academically; provides an opportunity to gain a worldwide network of friends; and helps develop a better understanding of the world. In addition, major colleges and universities throughout the United States recognize the value of international studies and learning new experiences as part of their selection criteria.

Students interested in the program must submit an application by Tuesday, Nov. 12. Interviews for selection of exchange students will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
