Marsh Leads Strong JHS Swim Effort At ECICs

CLARENCE – The Jamestown Lady Red Raiders turned in several fine team and individual efforts as the preliminary rounds concluded Friday in the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Class AA girls swimming championships.

JHS’s 200 medley relay team of Allie Stockwell, Emily Kling, Megan Marsh and Abbie Johnson is seeded third heading into the finals, which are scheduled for 4 p.m. today.

Marsh is seeded first in the 100 breaststroke and her time of 1:07.77 also broke the team record, which she had set earlier in the year and qualified her for states.

She is also seeded second in the 200 freestyle while Kling is seeded 11th overall. In the 50 freestyle, Stockwell is currently seeded 15th.

As for the 200 free relay, JHS is seeded 13th and also qualified for sectionals with team members Abbie Johnson, Brightman, Sam Oakes and Amanda Johnson.

In the 100 backstroke Stockwell is seeded 10th and the 400 free relay team of Abbie Johnson, Stockwell, Kling and Marsh is seeded ninth.

Not earning a spot in the finals were Alexa Brightman, who finished 40th in the 50 freestyle and Makenna Graham, who was 37th overall in the 100 butterfly.

In addition, Abbie Johnson finished 24th in the 100 freestyle, Oakes was 22nd in the 100 backstroke and Emily Spitz was 29th in the 500 freestyle.
