‘Lily’s Hope’ Offers Help To Women Experiencing Hair Loss

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As part of the Zonta Club’s mission of advancing the status of women locally and worldwide, the membership asks: What better time to remember the services available for those going through a cancer journey? “Lily’s Hope” in Jamestown has now been open for four years. Sponsored by the Women of the Zonta Club of Jamestown, “Lily’s Hope” provides free wigs to women who live in Chautauqua County, or are undergoing a medical treatment in Chautauqua County, and are experiencing hair loss due to those treatments or a medical condition.

“Since ‘Lily’s Hope’ opened at the WCA Cancer Treatment Center at Jones Memorial Hospital, we have served well over 150 women in our community. And the return from the community has been overwhelming,” says Rosie Papalia, Zonta Club member. “We’ve received donations of gently used wigs, supplies, money, thank you notes and support from women who have received wigs. ‘Lily’s Hope’ has also been the recipient of other’s fundraisers as well: from private family fundraisers, to commercially organized contests. It’s all been so wonderful. And it’s all to help those who are going through a tough time, so they know we care and we are here for them.”

If you or someone you know is in need of a wig, cap, turban or hat due to their medical treatment or condition, please call the WCA Cancer Treatment Center at Jones Memorial Hospital in Jamestown at 664-8670 for an appointment.
