Harmony Seniors Plan Thanksgiving Dinner
Harmony Senior Citizens will meet Nov. 7 in the Rowdy Rooster for a Thanksgiving dinner. The cost is $12 per person. The seniors will also meet for a pork loin dinner on Dec. 5 at noon in the Panama United Methodist Church. The cost is $8 per person. Reservations are required for both events. Seniors are reminded that if Panama Central School is closed due to snow, no senior meeting will be held.
Melvin Lord, chaplain, read a poem when 50 seniors met recently. He also led the dinner blessing and a flag salute. New member Verla Daley was welcomed.
Lester Wevers, outgoing treasurer, gave his report and Sandy Hoyt, new treasurer, will check with banks to find one that does not charge a monthly fee. Bonnie Anderson spoke on The Salvation Army Angel Tree and stated that tabs will be distributed at the November meeting. Gifts should be taken to the December meeting.
Other reports were given by Dottie Enlow on seats that were still available for the Dec. 2 trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, dinner and tour of Christmas lights.
Ellen Coffaro spoke on the last Senior Council meeting of the year and Pauline Edsell on open swimming in the Panama School. Members were also reminded that the Medicare Advantage enrollment time period ends Dec. 7.
A request for a donation to the Chautauqua Day Adult Day Care Center was tabled.
Celebrating birthdays were Doris Carr, Norma Catanese, Delores Ellis, Everett King and Pearl Lewis. Bob and Cory Delahoy, Melvin and Ellen Lord observed their wedding anniversaries.
A Halloween parade was also held.
