Carpenter, Schupp Pace Cardinals

RANDOLPH – Nick Carpenter recorded a shutout and Skyler Schupp tallied twice as No. 2 Randolph remained unbeaten (14-0-3) by toppling No. 10 Westfield-Brocton (6-8-1), 4-0, in the Section 6 Class C boys soccer quarterfinals on Thursday.

Carpenter made three saves and Schupp scored the first two goals when the Cardinals got off to a good start.

Schupp tallied unassisted off a corner kick at 11 minutes and got his second goal from Taylor Miller at 17 minutes for the Cardinals.

Alex Shipherd increased the Randolph lead to 3-0 with his goal at 37 minutes from Zach Jackson.

The only goal scored in the second half was scored by Jackson from Matt Born at 21 minutes for the Cardinals.

Ty Bentham was the Westfield-Brocton netminder and had 11 saves.

Randolph now goes to Hamburg for a battle with No. 3 Holland, which beat Frewsburg, 4-0, at 5 p.m. Monday followed by No. 4 Maple Grove versus No. 1 International Prep at 7:30.
