Bigg Awarded Harris Fellowship By?Rotary

The Jamestown Noon Rotary Club recently a Paul Harris Fellowship to Helen Backman Larson Bigg, a club member and Jamestown resident.

A graduate of Jamestown High School, Bigg lived in Binghamton, Hawaii, Virginia and North Carolina before returning to her hometown, where she married to Dr. Hugh Bigg. In 1978, the Rotarian formed her own sales representative company, Helen Bigg & Associates. She was “on the road” in sales for 29 years and worked as the New York state sales representative for Vera Bradley for the last 17 years of her career. She is now retired.

Having joined Rotary in 2005, Bigg has been active in the club’s literacy, social, fund raising and Red Kettle campaigns. She is active at First Lutheran Church and, after retirement, volunteered for two years as the buyer for the gift shop at WCA Hospital.

The honoree has two daughters, one residing in Houston, Texas, and the other in Swansboro, N.C. She has six grandchildren.

The honor of a Paul Harris Fellowship is given to Rotary members who contribute $1,000 to the humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary Foundation. The award is named for Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International, the world’s first service club.
