Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Holds Meeting
Gayle Cieplinski, Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary president, presided at a recent meeting which was opened with prayer by Paul Pattison, chaplain. A flag salute was given, the auxiliary preamble recited and a moment of silence was held for fallen soldiers. Reports by Carol Baker, secretary, and Karen Field, treasurer, were approved as read.
Reports were given by Ms. Cieplinski on the Oct. 27 children’s Halloween party and the Dec. 22 Christmas party; Sally Lawson, on walking in the ”Making Strides for Breast Cancer,” donations for ”Backpacks for Kids,” membership and dues, which are $20 per person and can be mailed to her or paid at the post.
Shirley Coon, field service chairwoman, spoke on visiting a 94-year-old local Army veteran.
Pat Hayward and Charyle Tyler, junior auxiliary members, will send notices all Unit 1280 eligible juniors on getting the junior unit active again. Meetings will be the second Sunday of each month.
Discussion was on the last ”cruise-in” of 2013; making and selling of pies and desserts to benefit homeless veterans; the ”Vendor’s Showcase on Oct. 26; the hunter’s breakfast which begins Nov. 16; and a Christmas party on Dec. 1.
The meeting closed with prayer.
