Robert H. Campbell

RANDOLPH – Robert H. Campbell, 76, of West Main Street Road, Randolph, passed away at 5:12 a.m., Saturday, (Oct, 19, 2013), in Buffalo General Hospital.

He was born April 23, 1937, in the Town of Coldspring, N.Y., the son of the late William Halsey and Genevieve Cowen Campbell.

He was a 1956 graduate of Cattaraugus High School, EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University, and the University of Miami. Mr. Campbell received his pilot’s license in his youth before he became a licensed automobile driver.

Bob retired from Ford Motor Company in St. Louis, Mo., retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service, where he was a manufacturing engineer. He was also active in the Air National Guard.

He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ellicottville, was a member of the Little Valley Lions Club serving as a recurrent past president and served in District 20 N as its district representative. He was also a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest award within Lions Club International. He was also a member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, Vintage Airplane Association, Model Airplane Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, Cessna 120140 Club, Clan Campbell Society and Flying Aces Model Airplane Club.

Bob had a zest for life and a lifelong love of flying. He was an avid fisherman, boater, and Ford enthusiast, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with all of his family, kids, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Bob had a unique ability to make everyone he met and knew feel loved and cared for, and for this, he will be fondly remembered by all.

He is survived by his wife, Anita M. Maus, whom he married on May 23, 1998, in Dewittville, N.Y.; three sons, Barry J. Campbell and wife, Beverly of Woodstock, Ga., Paul Messick, and John Messick and wife, Kim all of Chesapeake City, Md.; a daughter; Diane Windsor and husband, Gene of Newark, Del.; eleven grandchildren, Adam Keefner (Gretchen), Aaron Keefner (Angie), Courtney Campbell Vastola (Jeremy), Melanie Campbell Ross (Patrick), Emily Jo Campbell, Jonathan Windsor, Elyse Messick, Donny Messick, Robby Messick, Sam Messick and Jack Mesick; as well as three greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Howard Campbell of New Albion, N.Y.; and a sister, Irma Zimpfer of Lancaster, N.Y.

He was preceded by his first wife, Juanita Barker in December of 1995; a son, Todd Allen Campbell and daughter, Nena Jo Keefner.

The family will receive friends from 47 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 22, 2013), in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ellicottville, Pastor William Kay will officiate. The family will also be received in the church one hour prior. Burial will be in the New Albion Cemetery.
