Ralph Patrick ‘‘Bubba’’ Waterman

Ralph Patrick ”Bubba” Waterman died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the Pennsylvania Soldier’s and Sailors’ Home in Erie, Pa.

He was born Dec. 2, 1946, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Russell J. and Mariana Lewis Waterman.

He attended Panama Central School, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17, serving two tours in Vietnam.

After learning to play the guitar at an early age, he enjoyed ”pickin’ and grinnin”’ bluegrass and country-western with his brothers and friends.

In recent years, his already large family was extended to include the wonderful staff and his many friends at the Pennsylvania Soldier’s and Sailors’ Home in Erie, Pa.

He is survived by nine siblings: Lois (Dennis) Kibler of Jamestown, Louise (Ralph) Long of Syracuse, Larry (Karen) Waterman of Sebastian, Fla., Russell (Sheryl) Waterman of Stow, Joanne (Darrell) James of Ashville, Laura (Dwight) Smith of Rocky Mount, N.C., David (Toni) Waterman of Palm Bay, Fla., Loretta (Scott) Waterman Bremer of Jamestown, and Elizabeth (Richard) Hall of Apopka, Fla.; four daughters: Julie Waterman of Jamestown, Jennie (Bryan) Waterman Blose of Busti, Ami Duvall of Ashville, and Robin DeLaughter of Ohio; and five grandchildren: Morgan and Maddison Blose and Salyna, Shawn and Toby Patterson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jayne Lynn on May 11, 1961.

Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Pennsylvania Soldier’s and Sailors’ Home, 560 E. Third St., Erie, Pa. A service with full military honors will follow.

Burial will be in the cemetery at the Soldier’s and Sailors’ Home.
