Five Injured In Sheffield Crash

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Five people were taken to Warren General Hospital following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday.

Pennsylvania State Police out of Warren say that 68-year-old Charles Rounds of Warren, Pa., was driving a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound on state Route 666 when he failed to property negotiate a right-hand curve. The van struck the guide rail on the south side of the road, continued across the road striking the guide rail on the north side of the road, and continued traveling eastbound across the road again, striking the guide rail on the south side of the road a second time. The van continued traveling in an eastbound direction striking the guide rail on the north side of the road a second time before coming to a stop.

Rounds, a 68-year-old female passenger, 35-year-old female passenger, 12-year-old male passenger and 10-year-old female passenger were all taken to the hospital with injuries, their severity unknown. All five victims were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Rounds was charged with not driving at a safe speed.

The Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
