Bears, Trojans Post Shutout Victories In Boys Soccer

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg boys soccer team improved to 11-3-1 after posting a 2-0 West Division soccer win over West Valley (6-5-0) (8-6-0) on Wednesday.

With five minutes left in the first half, Derek Smith was able to put the Bears on the scoreboard with an assist from Jacob Annis. The goal marked Smith’s 19th of the season while Annis brought his assist total to 10 on the year.

The final goal of the game was scored by Jacob Lyon with 16 minutes left, with Annis recording his 11th assist.

Justin Randall recorded five saves in the shutout and Jon Zimmer made 11 stops in net for the Wildcats.

WEST DIVISION

TROJANS ROLL

MAYVILLE – Eric Priester recorded his 10th shutout of the year with four saves as unbeaten Southwestern ran its record to 14-0-2 after a 5-0 victory over Chautauqua Lake (2-10-3).

The Trojans racked up three goals in the first half with Tanner Hoose scoring from Nick Cooper at 4:42, Riley Rybicki from Tristan Desnerck at 14:10 and Sebastian Diaz from Cooper at 26:29.

Desnerck came back to score at 48:30 of the second half and Mason Hoose took a pass from Desnerck at 49:26 for the final goal for the Trojans.

James Latimer made 10 saves in defeat.

GIRLS

WEST DIVISION

FALCONER BREEZES

FALCONER – The Falconer Lady Golden Falcons (13-1-1) blanked Westfield-Brocton (1-13-1), 5-0.

Emma Steele recorded the first goal of the evening thanks to a pass from Sydney Moore at 14:47. Andrea Volk added to her dominant season by scoring the next two goals, the first coming at 30:17 from Randi Greene. Volk’s second tally came four minutes into the second half on a feed from Rhea Moore.

Abbey Warner added two more goals in the second half, with the first assisted by Steele at 12:43. Warner’s second goal came with five minutes left in the game, and was unassisted.

Macey Mays faced one shot in net for Falconer while Taylor Kassman was forced to make 11 stops for Westfield-Brocton.

NON-LEAGUE

RED DRAGONS ROLL

PANAMA – Katie Braund and Alison Winchester showed the way for Maple Grove.

Braund and Winchester each scored twice as the Lady Red Dragons downed Panama, 9-0.

Braund opened the scoring at 19 minutes from Winchester for her fifth goal of the season. Later, Winchester passed to Sara Stawitzky, who scored her first goal this season at 36 minutes.

Winchester tallied her sixth goal this season from Sarah Pardue at 39 minutes to make it 3-0 at halftime for MG.

The second half was played in heavy rain, but the Lady Red Dragons didn’t seem to mind as they scored six times.

Braund again started it off with her sixth goal of the season from Alexis Hallberg at two minutes and Pardue got her seventh goal of the year unassisted at six minutes.

At 10 minutes, it was Hallberg picking up her third goal of year from Emma Franczak for a 6-0 Maple Grove advantage.

Dana Jones got in the scoring act with her first goal of the season from Makala Nelson at 15 minutes and Lindsey Walters scored her second goal of the year from Lauren Franczak at 36 minutes.

The final MG goal was scored by Nelson, her first of the year, from Haley Fox at 37 minutes.

Brianna Davis recorded the win in the Maple Grove net without making a save. Rebekah Whitmore had 12 saves for Panama.

CENTRAL DIVISION

T’WOLVES PREVAIL

CATTARAUGUS – Scoring a goal in each half, Central Division champion Cattaraugus-Little Valley (12-1-0, 12-2-1) decisioned Pine Valley, 2-0.

Alexi Ploetz scored the only goal the hosts needed at 22 minutes of the first half from Jenna Martin.

Martin got her goal unassisted at 35 minutes of the second half to complete the scoring for C-LV.

Megan Jones recorded the win by making four saves for C-LV while Becky Butcher had 10 saves for PV, which lost the first meeting, 3-1.
