Brackman To Run For Third?Ward City Council Seat
Businesswoman, community leader and lifelong resident of the Third Ward, Regina Brackman has accepted the endorsement of the Democratic Party to run for the Jamestown City Council in Chadakoin Ward III.
Brackman is the corporate inventory administrator at Truck-Lite Company LLC, in Falconer. She has more than 29 years of supply chain and materials management, as well as warehousing and distribution management. She also leads various corporate-level projects at Truck-Lite, including corporate acquisitions and software upgrades. Additionally, Brackman owns and operates her own independent, home-based business.
When asked about her expertise and the insights she would bring to the City Council, Brackman said, ”I am a logical, outside-the-box thinker and have a strong analytical background, which allows me to focus on the facts to achieve effective results. I love working within a team, as a leader or a member, and I have worked on many high-level projects during my career in both aspects. I believe in hard work and expect a lot of myself and those I work with. I push and strive for success. At the same time, I have compassion and understanding and the willingness to help where help is needed.”
Outside of her professional experience, Brackman has been an active volunteer for her community. Since 2008, she has served on the YWCA board of directors and on the organization’s Racial Justice Committee. She is also a member of the Jamestown Juneteenth Planning Committee and past member of the City of Jamestown Youth Services Board and TRI City APICS Professional Organization. Brackman attends Blackwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she is the president of the board of trustees and served as youth director, coordinating the annual Harvest Day Party for youth in the community.
”I have been told that I have a servants heart when it comes to serving the Lord and I will use that same heart when it comes to serving the residents of the Third Ward and the entire city,” Brackman said. ”If elected, I will strive to make the right decisions on behalf of the people of this ward to ensure that their needs and concerns are being communicated and considered. I will work to help people become more aware of the opportunities as it relates to programs for homeowners, youth, single family residents, our senior community and small business owners.”
In commenting on Brackman’s candidacy, Chautauqua County Legislator Victoria James said, ”Regina Brackman is a hometown woman, having lived in the Third Ward her entire life. She was raised on Lafayette Street and educated in the Jamestown Public Schools System. She has always worked hard for her community, never blowing her own horn regarding her accomplishments, or standing in a crowd shouting ‘look at me.’ She worked her way up from the shop floor at Truck-Lite and into a management position. She is truly a humble, Godly person of action, willing to work with people to get to the finish line together.”
James continued, ”Regina worked for the Parks and Recreation Department as a teenager, and she assisted with the rebuild of the Chadakoin Park Playground and other projects within Ward 3. She has successfully raised funds for the Juneteenth Committee, helping to continue this important community festival this past year. She will bring the voice of the people of the Third Ward to city government and will work hard for her community at the City Council level.”
The daughter of Sherdena Brackman, Regina is the youngest of three children, having two older brothers, Jeffrey and Tom. She lives on Genesee Street.
