Bates, Mann Lead Way For YMCA Masters Swimmers

INDIANA. Pa. – Kelly Bates and Tom Mann of the Jamestown YMCA masters swim team finished four events in first place recently.

Bates, competing in the 40-44 Division, placed first in the 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 25 freestyle and 200 freestyle.

Meanwhile, Mann, who was in the 65-69 Division, came in first in 200 breaststroke, 25 freestyle, 25 breaststroke and 400 individual medley.

Bill Radack, taking part in the 75-79 Division, placed first in the 25 freestyle, in the 50 backstroke and in the 25 breaststroke.

Karen Williams, competing in the 50-54 Division, won the 50 butterfly and the 25 freestyle while placing second in the 100 individual medley and the 200 freestyle.

Rich Seigel, who competed in the 60-64 Division, placed second in the 100 individual medley, in the 200 freestyle and in the 100 backstroke.

Local swimmers also ranked first in the high point awards list of its category.

Williams was first with 50 points, Bates second with 28 points and Seigel third with 20 points.

Mann was first with 54 points and Radack was also first with 21 points.

The next meet is Nov. 3 at the Clearfield (Pa.) YMCA.
