Conway Leads Way In Panama Girls Soccer Win Over WV

PANAMA – Kayla Conway had been scoreless until Thursday when she broke out and scored twice as Panama (2-9, 2-10) nipped West Valley (2-8-1, 5-8-1), 2-1, in Central Division girls soccer action on Thursday.

Conway tallied from Brandy Rowe at 20 minutes for the only Panama goal of the first half.

Andrea Gentner tied things up at 1-1 on an assist from Brook Smith at 15 minutes of the second half.

Conway got the winner at 18 minutes from Maddie Smith for Panama, which avenged a 3-0 WV defeat earlier in the season.

Caylea Adams was the Panama goalie with seven saves while Ashley Blackman had six saves for West Valley.


SOUTH DAYTON – Jessica Wilcox and Monica Kenney scored goals as Pine Valley (7-3, 7-5) downed Silver Creek-Forestville, 2-1.

Wilcox scored the only goal of the first half from Kenney at 32 minutes for Pine Valley.

Kenney tallied unassisted at eight minutes of the second half to make it 2-0 for PV.

Then, Jennifer Gofin recorded a goal at 22 minutes to cut the Silver Creek-Forestville deficit to 2-1.

Becky Butcher made eight saves for the winners and Jamie Hehir had the same amount for Silver Creek-Forestville.

Earlier in the week, Pine Valley edged North Collins, 2-1, with goals by Wilcox from Kenney and Courtney Fleming from Wilcox.

Butcher got the win with six saves.
