Trojans Trim MG, Clinch Division Title

Thanks to Eric Priester and Nick Cooper, undefeated Southwestern (12-0-2) claimed the West Division boys soccer title for the second year in a row on Wednesday night.

Priester racked up his eighth shutout of the season with six saves and Cooper headed in the only goal off a corner kick from Tristan Desnerck to give the Trojans a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Maple Grove.

Cooper’s goal came at 23:50 of the first half and was the only blemish for Maple Grove goalie Kyle Richardson, who made six saves.

Maple Grove drops to 10-3-1.



CATTARAUGUS – Derek Smith and Justin Randall combined talents for Frewsburg (8-0-1).

Smith scored both goals in the late going and Randall recorded a shutout as the Bears downed Cattaraugus-Little Valley, 2-0.

The game was scoreless until Smith broke the deadlock with 9:57 left on an assist from Alex Dimpfl. Smith added an insurance goal with 1:44 left on an assist from Jordan Dilts for his 16th goal of the season.

Randall made five saves in picking up his second shutout against Cattaraugus-Little Valley. Earlier in the season, Randall blanked the Timberwolves, 3-0.

Dylan Rhinehart had six saves in the loss.



The first half led to the downfall of Jamestown High School (1-9, 3-11) at the Martin Road Complex.

Lancaster scored all four goals in the opening half and went on to post a 4-1 victory over Jamestown.

After Jamestown was behind by four goals at the half, the Red Raiders played a much better second half and outscored the Redskins, 1-0 on a goal by Jacob Johnson from Mitch Moore at 1:20.

Lancaster got a gift goal when Jamestown had an own goal at 3:56 of the first half. The Redskins then scored at 6:05, at 7:47 and at 17:43.

Liam Kulakowski had seven saves for Jamestown.

Jamestown entertains Clarence at 5 p.m. on Friday.
