Armed Robber Captured

KIANTONE – A Jamestown man is in custody following an alleged armed robbery early Wednesday morning.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said a Kwik Fill clerk was in the parking lot at 1781 Foote Ave. Extension after closing the store for the night when she was confronted by a man at 12:33 a.m. The man, later identified as 34-year-old David Zembardo, pulled a knife on the clerk and forced her back into the store, where he forcibly stole an unknown amount of cash.

Zembardo fled the scene running north until Drago, the sheriff’s K-9 dog, tracked the suspect into the city of Jamestown behind businesses on Foote Avenue.

Zembardo was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in Town of Kiantone Court. The weapon and all of the money was recovered. Zembardo was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and petit larceny.

He was committed to Chautauqua County Jail.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Jamestown Police, Lakewood-Busti Police and the New York State Police.
