City Man Flown To Hamot Following Car-Pedstrian Accident

A Jamestown resident suffered a severe head injury following a car-pedestrian accident in the city Wednesday.

According to Tom Shea, Jamestown Police Department investigator, a 69-year-old male was struck by a 2008 Nissan. The accident happened around 4 p.m. The victim, who was transported to WCA Hospital by Alstar Ambulance before being flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie by Starflight, was hit near the corner of West Seventh and Washington streets in Jamestown.

According to Shea, the victim was walking east across Washington Street. The driver of the Nissan was making a left-hand turn from West Seventh Street when the vehicle struck the victim, causing damage to the fender and passenger side mirror of the car.

The victim has not been identified. Shea said it is likely the driver of the vehicle will not be charged in the incident.

On Washington Street, crosswalks appear at Sixth and Eighth streets. There is no crosswalk on Seventh Street.
