Southwestern Girls Volleyball Team Sweeps Cassadaga Valley

Southwestern picked up its ninth victory of the season on Monday with a 25-14, 25-13, 25-14 win over Cassadaga Valley in non-league girls volleyball.

For the Lady Trojans (5-2, 9-5), Kara Schutte connected for five aces, nine assists and four kills; Maddy Alexander had five aces, seven assists and four kills; Sally Rudny added five aces and five kills and Carlie Carlson had three aces and six kills.

Alyssa Hahn produced six aces and five assists; Kodie Hoyt had an assist, one kill and three digs; and Debbie Walker had three digs for the Lady Cougars.

Cassadaga Valley was the winner in jayvee action.


Sherman’s Natalie House produced five aces and one kill as the Lady Wildcats (4-3, 6-4) cruised to a 25-15, 25-23, 25-20 victory over Brocton-Westfield.

Also for Sherman, Bridget Yaw had five kills, four blocks and three aces, Katrina Christmas added four kills and two aces and Cadi Hannold had eight assists.

For Brocton/Westfield (1-5, 4-11), Madison Mathews connected for four kills and four aces and Carson Houser had 11 assists.

Brocton/Westfield won the junior varsity match.
