Jamestown AARP To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown AARP chapter will hold its regular meeting Tuesday in the parlors of First Lutheran Church, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The program will be presented by a group of Suzuki violinists, including both children and seniors, from The Lutheran, directed by Nina Karbacka. There will also be a business meeting, a book exchange and refreshments. All seniors, age 50 and over, are welcome.

Student Concert Set For Tonight

FREDONIA – The first Student Composers Concert of the new school year, featuring student instrumentalists and vocalists performing works by both undergraduate and graduate students, will be presented by Ethos New Music Society today at 8 p.m. at Rosch Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public. Student composers featured on the inaugural program include Tim Antonacci, Dan Isgar, Masaki Kawasaki, Phil Landini, Ben Miller, Kate Parker, Evan Seickel, Francis Suarez and Jared Yackiw. The concert offers a wide variety of musical genres, including a string quartet, art songs, and works for solo piano, solo harp and solo flute. Ethos New Music Society events are supported by Student Association.

To Meet Tonight

FLUVANNA – The monthly board meeting for the Fluvanna Free Library will be held today at the library. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Study Club To Meet Tonight

The Bemus Point Study Club will hold the first meeting of the season at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church today at 6 p.m. This is a tureen dinner and members are asked to bring a dish to pass and their place setting. Dues will be collected and new directories will be distributed. Vince Horrigan is the featured speaker. If you are interested in membership or have questions call 410-1851.

Tuesday Is ‘Meet The Candidates’

SINCLAIRVILLE – A “Meet the Candidates” night, sponsored by Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium at Cassadaga Valley Central High School. The school, located on Route 60 in Sinclairville, was chosen because it is centrally located within the county. Candidates for Chautauqua County executive, clerk and legislators will present their platforms, and respond to presented questions. For members of SCOPE, the Tuesday “Meet the Candidates” forum is in lieu of their regular monthly meeting, which normally occurs the third Tuesday of each month. The public is invited to attend.

Cancer Support Group To Meet

The Breast Cancer Support Group of Jamestown will meet for dinner Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Friendly’s restaurant, and at 7 p.m. Karl Sisson of WCA Hospital, Margie Fuchs and Ellen Munella of the Zonta Club, which sponsors Lily’s Hope, will help to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink light bulbs, which should be used the entire month in honor or memory of a breast cancer patient are currently available at Farm Fresh Foods, Falconer Vac, the Lakewood Mobile Mart, the Ashville General Store, South Side Pharmacy, Crossroads, Westfield YWCA, or by calling 665-4343.
