Area Police Reports


Charles Worden of Lakewood was charged with second-degree harassment, third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing on Friday at 10:25 p.m. during an alleged domestic incident. Worden was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and will appear in Busti Court at a later date.

Amy Darling of Lakewood was charged with second-degree menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment on Friday at 10:25 p.m. during an alleged domestic incident at her home. Darling was issued appearance tickets and will answer to the charges at a later time.


FRENCH CREEK – Dayne Heimburg, 42, of Findley Lake was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to keep right and operating with a handheld electronic device on Friday at 11:45 p.m. The sheriff’s patrol responded to a report of a hit and run accident which occurred on French Creek-Mina Road in front of the French Creek Tavern, police said. Allegedly, a vehicle driven by Heimburg failed to keep right and side swiped another vehicle which was arriving at the tavern. Heimburg allegedly fled the scene and did not report the accident. Officers were able to identify Heimburg, and he was contacted by the deputies and charged accordingly. He will be answering the charges in the French Creek Court at a later date.

LAKEWOOD – On Saturday at 3:52 p.m. there was a house fire reported in Lakewood. Lakewood Fire Department responded and was assisted by the Celoron Fire Department. The fire was put out quickly and the Fire Investigation Team determined an electrical problem at an electrical junction box in the ceiling of the kitchen was the cause. No one was at the residence at the time the fire occurred, and there were no injuries reported. The fire has been ruled an accident.

SILVER CREEK – Two male youths, both age 17, of Silver Creek were allegedly caught on Saturday at 5:31 at a scene of a burglary in Silver Creek. They were taken into custody, and one youth was charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana and the other was charged with fourth-degree criminal facilitation. Both are scheduled to appear in Silver Creek Court on a later date to be arraigned on the listed charges.

BROCTON – Jeffrey Hinderschied, 31, of Aurora, Ohio, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a .08 percent or higher blood alcohol content and failure to signal turn on Saturday at 9:45 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies allegedly observed Hinderschied failing to signal a turn while traveling from Main Street to Old Mill Road. According to police, Hinderschied was intoxicated. He will appear back in Brocton Court at a later date.

Christian Gerholdt, 21, of Pomfret, was charged with resisting arrest on Friday at 9:25 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies along with Sheriff K-9 served a felony warrant on Gerholdt, and upon deputies locating and speaking with him, Gerholdt allegedly attempted to resist deputies as he was taken into custody, police said. Gerholdt was taken to Chautauqua County Jail for the felony warrant, and will appear in court at a later date and time.


Cindylou Reich, 34, of South Dayton was charged with intent to damage property on Wednesday at 7:02 p.m.

Joseph Mohawk, 28, of Gowanda, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Thursday at 5:10 p.m.

Michael Beichner, 27, of Sinclairville, was charged with failure to keep right on a two-lane road, driving while intoxicated and refusal to take a breathalyzer test on Saturday at 8:03 p.m.
