JCC North County Center To Host OSHA Update Oct. 25

Jamestown Community College’s North County Training Center in Dunkirk will host a free OSHA Update seminar for area businesses from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 25.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling 363-6500. A light breakfast will be available for participants starting at 8 a.m.

“This session is a must for anyone with workplace safety and health responsibilities in any industry, including the manufacturing, construction, service, healthcare, or retail industries,” said presenter Gordon DeLeys, OSHA compliance specialist based in Buffalo.

The seminar will examine new and emerging regulations, elements of an effective safety and health management system, OSHA recordkeeping, recent cases, and tips to effectively navigate and utilize the OSHA website.

Attendees can expect to gain valuable insight into how and why OSHA inspections are conducted and what happens after an inspection. Hazard communication rules, which affect material safety data sheets, will also be discussed. Audience participation is encouraged and there will be an opportunity to address specific questions from audience members.

DeLeys has worked for the Buffalo area OSHA office for 28 years. He is a member of the board of directors of the Western New York Federal Safety and Health Council and the Western New York Safety Conference. He is also a member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and the American Society of Safety Engineers, and is active with the national and local chapters of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the National Safety Council.

Information about the seminar, along with other offerings for the business community, is available at sunyjcc.edu/continuing-education.

The seminar has been made available by JCC’s Center for Continuing Education, the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier.
